Artist's Description

Vernon Drive Grocery is a landmark in the Strathcona neighbourhood in Vancouver’s East Side. It is about 120 years old. I read that it is the most photographed corner store in Vancouver, and I don’t doubt it. The property is now for sale for 2 million Canadian dollars. One can only hope that the new owners will keep the shop, or at least don’t change it too much.

About Irene Moriarty

Irene Moriarty

I was born in Vienna, Austria. I was always fascinated by photography and art, but my career path led to writing first. In Austria I was a book critic and travel and culture writer. In 2007 I moved to Vancouver and brought my love for history and art to this modern, young and beautiful city. My interest in photography and the visual arts led to a new career. I work as a still photographer for documentaries and discover my new home town with my camera. In my digital paintings I express my fascination with colour and composition. Thank you for your interest in my work.
