This is a black and white photo of a statue of a mourning woman at Grinzing Cemetery in Vienna. In the background you can see the Catholic Kaasgraben Church.
Grinzing Cemetery is the last resting place of many artists, actors, writers and composers, among them Gustav Mahler and his wife Alma-Mahler Werfel, and also the writer Alexander Sacher-Masoch, from whose name the word "masochism" is derived.

I was born in Vienna, Austria. I was always fascinated by photography and art, but my career path led to writing first. In Austria I was a book critic and travel and culture writer. In 2007 I moved to Vancouver and brought my love for history and art to this modern, young and beautiful city. My interest in photography and the visual arts led to a new career. I work as a still photographer for documentaries and discover my new home town with my camera. In my digital paintings I express my fascination with colour and composition.
