I took this photo of Vancouver's Nitobe Memorial Japanese Garden on a sunny day in late September. It is considered one of the most authentic Japanese Gardens outside Japan. It is small, but perfectly designed. Each shrub, tree, lantern and stone is carefully placed to give the visitor a sense of harmony and peace.
I was born in Vienna, Austria. I was always fascinated by photography and art, but my career path led to writing first. In Austria I was a book critic and travel and culture writer. In 2007 I moved to Vancouver and brought my love for history and art to this modern, young and beautiful city. My interest in photography and the visual arts led to a new career. I work as a still photographer for documentaries and discover my new home town with my camera. In my digital paintings I express my fascination with colour and composition.
